Script executed:

rg -n -F -e 'umask' -e 'chmod' -e 'WriteFile' -e 'prepare_reloader_rules' -- cmd/ || test "$?" -eq 1

Repository: pingcap/monitoring

Length of output: 2854

Make the new test set the fixture mode explicitly.

os.WriteFile(..., 0444) applies the process umask. Under umask 077, the fixture becomes 0400. The helper's chmod u+rw,go-w,a-x then leaves it at 0600, so the test's 0644 check fails. Add an os.Chmod call after each fixture write so the input mode does not depend on the umask.

Suggested fix

 				if err := os.WriteFile(filepath.Join(path, "test.yml"), []byte("groups: []"), 0444); err != nil {
 					t.Fatal(err)
 				}
+				if err := os.Chmod(filepath.Join(path, "test.yml"), 0444); err != nil {
+					t.Fatal(err)

Review comment at @cmd/dm_rules_test.go at line 66:
Update the fixture setup in the test containing the `info.Mode().Perm() != 0644`
check to call `os.Chmod` after each `os.WriteFile`, explicitly setting the
intended input mode so the test is independent of the process umask.

review. Visit https://docs.coderabbit.ai/cli?utm_source=ghpr

Reject hard-linked rule files before changing ownership.

The regular-file check at cmd/init.sh:41 accepts a rule whose link count is above 1. If another process hard-links a rule to an unrelated file on the shared volume, the chown and chmod calls at lines 45-46 change that file as well. Reject link counts above 1, and apply the same check to the sibling init.sh files.

Update the rule-file validation in this script and its sibling init.sh files to

permission changes; preserve the existing symlink and non-regular-file checks.

Move the symlink checks ahead of every copy, replacement, and delete.

prepare_reloader_rules rejects symlinks only after the initializer has copied, rewritten, or deleted files. cp -f writes through a symlink at the destination, so a symlinked rules/dm_worker.rules.yml sends the rule content to its target before the check runs. The TiDB rules branch also runs rm -rf on rules/* before the check. Run the path and file-type checks before these operations in all three init scripts.

Review comment at @cmd/init.sh at line 106:
Move the symlink and file-type checks performed by prepare_reloader_rules ahead
of every copy, replacement, and deletion in each of the three init scripts.
Ensure the checks run before cp can write through a destination symlink and
before the TiDB rules branch removes rules/*; preserve the existing validation
behavior.

Bump the datasource provisioning version for the non-editable change.

Grafana rejects a provisioned update whose version is lower than the stored datasource version. A datasource that a user edited to stored version 2 keeps editable: true after this image redeploys with version: 1. For datasources that were already edited, set the provisioning version above the stored version in the three k8s-datasource.yaml sources and in the compatibility build.

Review comment at @platform-monitoring/operator/Dockerfile.compat at line 27:
Update the compatibility build’s transformation of `/tmp/k8s-datasource.yaml`
and the three source provisioning files so the datasource provisioning version
exceeds the stored version for previously edited datasources; preserve the
non-editable setting.
