the codebase is a fucking mess. i threw an agent at it and tried to get it to split out pure pieces, separate the rest by domain, and extract some of the nastier bits of logic into dedicated controllers
i have not ready any of this (yet) so take w a grain of salt. it does pass tests & a bunch more regression tests were added before any code changes were made beyond just moving things around
