[Bug]: incoming call Breaks always on display #1368
Receiving a call while listening to music with the always on display feature turned on seems to completely bork it. The uncoming call screen does not show up. However, I am able to answer or reject the call via either my Bluetooth headset or my smart watch. That part works okay. Once the call ends, however, the always on display doesn't go away. It seems to exist as an overlay on top of the regular phone screen, making it impossible to interact with it. Shortcuts from buttons and wearables and such still work, for example, I was able to turn on the flashlight via double press of camera key. I was able to reproduce this multiple times. Occasionally I'm able to make the overlay go away via disconnecting the headset or somehow skipping to the next track via the headset button, but sometimes it requires a reboot. Here's the fun part after reboot, the AOD feature from Essential still doesn't work right, so if I start to listen to music it doesn't turn on until it goes to the next song at which when it starts working normally up again. I normally used true phone and thought the issue might be a conflict with that, but I was able to reproduce the behavior using the built in Android sixteen call screen.
Steps to Reproduce
Turn on Essentials on display, including the music feature.
Start listening to music and wait for the screen to turn off and the AOD to come on.
Receive an incoming call.
Attempt deter to accept or decline the call via the screen, fail, accept or decline the call via external means.
After ending the call, attempt to unlock the phone.
Expected Behavior
The incoming call screen should turn on, allowing you to accept or reject the call, after which it should go back to the music AOD feature, which you should be able to dismiss via unlocking your phone.
Screenshots
Here's a screenshot of my AOD that I was able to take because it was still overlaying on my screen.
Okay, it seems whatever happened the damage is pretty bad because I'm getting the bug now even without an incoming call. I start playing music and I don't see the essentials display until the next song starts playing. Once it does, I get a slightly version of the bug except I'm sometimes able to get the recent screen to come up and close out of my music player.
Welp, after some troubleshooting I tracked the issue to a different theoretically unrelated app conflicting with yours. Given that the other app is way more niche, I think it's gonna be on that dev to figure out compatibility if possible
