The controller reads and updates a ConfigMap but the ClusterRole was missing permissions for the core API group configmaps resource. Without this the reconciler gets 403 Forbidden on every Get/Update.
yaml.v2 does not read json struct tags - it lowercases Go field names directly (e.g. ValidStatusCodes -> validstatuscodes). blackbox_exporter expects snake_case keys (valid_status_codes, follow_redirects, etc.). Add explicit yaml struct tags to all fields so the generated ConfigMap YAML matches the format blackbox_exporter actually parses.
Add --blackbox-reload-url flag that POSTs to blackbox_exporter's /-/reload endpoint whenever the ConfigMap is updated. This removes the need for an external config-reloader sidecar. Requires blackbox_exporter to be started with --web.enable-lifecycle.
The kubelet takes time to propagate ConfigMap changes to mounted volumes. This adds a configurable delay (default 10s) before triggering the /-/reload endpoint, preventing reload failures when the file hasn't been updated on disk yet.
