ADFA-5645: Exclude the bundled core.cgt from the Extensions Manager - #2046
Conversation
core.cgt ships with the IDE and isn't something the user installed or can meaningfully uninstall - it has no place in a screen whose whole job is managing user/plugin-provided templates. Exclude it from the Templates tab's scan entirely rather than special-casing it in the UI. TemplateProvenance.BUNDLED is now unreachable (nothing else maps to it), so it's removed along with its uninstall guard, its dead branch in TemplateListItem's provenance label, and the now-unused "Bundled" string. Excluding core.cgt from the templates list also excluded it from installedNames, the set used to hide a same-named Downloads file as a dead-end twin. A stray core.cgt in Downloads would then show up as an installable card whose Install could only ever collide with the real one in templatesDir - exactly the confusing dead-end this repository already goes out of its way to avoid for every other template. installedNames is now built from the full parsed templatesDir listing before core.cgt is filtered out of what's returned, so the twin-hiding behavior applies to core.cgt too. 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick winExclude
core.cgtfrom downloaded results. WhentemplatesDir/core.cgtis absent, installedNamesdoes not contain the reserved name. A validDownloads/core.cgttherefore becomes aninstalled = falseitem. The Templates tab exposes Install for that item, andinstallTemplate()can copy it intotemplatesDirbecause the destination is absent. This violates the contract thatcore.cgtis excluded from the tab and install flows. FilterTEMPLATE_CORE_ARCHIVEfromdownloadedinscanTemplates(); this scan is the source of the Templates-tab items, so the stray archive is neither shown nor installed through this flow.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

The previous fix only hid a Downloads core.cgt as a dead-end twin when templatesDir already had one to match against (installedNames). If the asset bootstrap hasn't run yet, templatesDir has no core.cgt, so a Downloads copy would pass through as an installable USER-provenance card - the same "completely exclude" requirement broken through a different door. core.cgt is now filtered out of the combined installed+downloaded list instead of just installed, so it's excluded regardless of which directory it's found in. CodeRabbit finding — fixed in 27ac9b7: Correct catch: the previous fix only hid a Downloads Fixed: Went with the simpler filename-based exclusion (applied to the combined list) rather than CodeRabbit's suggested "managed provenance/installation path" tracking - ✅ Resolved. |

IMPORTANT
TemplateRepositoryImpl.kt:144(deleted line) -uninstallTemplatelost its guard and gained no replacementTemplateRepositoryImplTest.kt:231- the twin-in-Downloads test passes against the unfixed code
MINOR
TemplateRepositoryImpl.kt:76- the exclusion is case-sensitive where every sibling is case-insensitiveTemplateRepositoryImpl.kt:76- a straycore.cgtin Downloads loses its only in-app Delete
One NITPICK was withheld rather than posted: the comment on line 65 calls the build order "deliberate", but with the post-combine filterNot in place that ordering has no observable effect.
Checked and found clean: no remaining references to BUNDLED or template_provenance_bundled outside the diff; the removed string has no values-XX translation, so no ExtraTranslation lint break; TemplateProvenance is not persisted or serialised by ordinal; listTemplateFiles() has exactly one consumer (TemplateManagerViewModel).
Submitted as a comment, not a merge block. Flagging one process point rather than acting on it: CLAUDE.md moves a ticket to QA once a review comes back with no outstanding critical, high, or medium findings, so ADFA-5645 is not there yet on these two IMPORTANTs.

The default templates are not listed in the Add-ons Manager, which is still called the Extensions Manager here
Address review findings on #2046: - Restore an uninstall guard for core.cgt. It was protected only by the list filter in scanTemplates, so an item reaching uninstallTemplate any other way could move the archive out, and nothing lists it to put back. - Match core.cgt ignoring case, like the twin dedup and findExistingCollision, so a hand-copied Core.cgt is excluded too. - Replace listTemplateFiles_hidesACoreArchiveTwinInDownloads, which passed against the unfixed code, with tests that fail without these fixes. Summary
The bundled
core.cgt(the IDE's own "Basic Activity" archive, 9 templates) showed up in the Extensions Manager's Templates tab as an "Installed - Bundled" card, even though it isn't something the user installed and can't meaningfully uninstall. It has no place in a screen whose job is managing user/plugin-provided templates.TemplateRepositoryImpl.scanTemplates()now dropscore.cgt(name matched ignoring case) from the list it returns, from either directory, rather than special-casing it in the UI.uninstallTemplatekeeps its own guard againstcore.cgt, so the archive is protected on the operation itself, not only by the list filter.TemplateProvenance.BUNDLEDwas only ever produced forcore.cgt, so with it excluded from scanning, the enum value is unreachable. Removed it, its branch inTemplateListItem's provenance label, and the now-unused "Bundled" string resource.TemplateCollectionRepositoryImpl) is untouched - it still needs to offer the bundled templates for project creation, and doesn't share code with this screen.Trade-off: a
core.cgtthat lands in public Downloads by other means (a browser download, a share target) is now hidden too, so it loses the card whose Delete was its only in-app removal path; the user needs a file manager to remove it. Accepted because that card's Install could only ever fail.Testing

Confirmed the New Project wizard's template picker still lists all bundled templates normally. No crashes.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
