skeleton: claude-zig-quality v0 — Zig 0.16 agentic quality harness - #1
Conversation
- root: package.json, tsconfig.json, CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md symlink, .gitignore, LICENSE
- .claude/settings.json: four-tier hook wiring + deny list + mcp scanner matcher
- 6 TS hooks (.claude/hooks/*.ts): session-start, pretooluse bash-guard, zig-preflight, posttooluse-zig, stop-dod, mcp-boundary-scanner
- 3 subagents (.claude/agents/*.md): zig-verifier (sonnet ro), zig-fixer (sonnet worktree), zig-api-drift (haiku ro)
- 10 primary skill files under .claude/skills/zig-quality/ (SKILL.md + 6 refs + 2 assets + grounded-facts table)
- 7 task and adjunct skills (.claude/skills/{zig-build-system,zig-fuzz-target,verify,release,api-drift,eval,prompt-infra-ref})
- TS verify runtime: verify-fast/commit/pr/release.ts, check-public-api.ts, eval.ts + 5 .sh shims (chmod +x)
- TS lib scaffold: runtime.ts, zig.ts, files.ts
- Zig layer: build.zig (fmt/test/test-unit/test-lib/test-integration/fuzz/docs steps), build.zig.zon (0.16 fingerprint), src/{root,lib,hello}.zig
- 3 Zig aux programs: zig-api-surface.zig, zig-fitness.zig, emit-sbom.zig
- Baselines: .zig-qm/public-api.txt, .agent/{baseline,dora}.json
- CI: 3 Forgejo workflows + review prompt fallback
- Evals: 8 fixture pairs across 4 domains, thresholds.json, judge-prompt.md, 1 golden trajectory
- Docs: ARCHITECTURE.md, TIGER_STYLE_ZIG.md, ADR 0000-template through 0003-darwin-fuzz-degradation
Gates green: verify-fast OK, verify-commit OK, verify-pr OK (5 cross-targets + 4 safety modes; darwin fuzz degrades explicitly per ADR 0003).
Deviations recorded in ADR 0001: bun.lock absence, prompt-vs-plan subagent trio, fsWalk bugfix, thresholds.json key shape.
WHY: Prompt 3 materializes plan ~/.claude/scratch/zig-quality-plan.md as a reusable Zig 0.16 quality harness.
WHAT: TS/Bun runtime + Zig 0.16 via mise wrapper + nested skills + four-tier gates + Forgejo CI.
IMPACT: New repo. No changes to gitstore-cli, ~/.agents/skills, or any chezmoi-managed file.
VALIDATION: zig build + zig build test (16/16) + cross-target matrix + safety rotation + verify-pr + eval --check all green.
- README.md: top-level project overview, four-tier gate table, runtime decisions, skill topology, subagent topology, invariant-vs-Zig separation table, 10-step language re-instantiation recipe, live adopter reference, untrusted-data boundary, release boundary. - ADR 0001 Deviation 2: subagent trio delivered per Prompt 3 (zig-verifier/fixer/api-drift) instead of plan §3 (api-drift/fuzzer/release-engineer). Forward-plan notes reconciliation. - ADR 0001 Deviation 3: scripts/lib/files.ts fsWalk bugfix (statSync gate for top-level file candidates; verify-fast now works on a pristine jj-init repo). - ADR 0001 Deviation 4: tests/evals/thresholds.json flattened to top-level keys matching scripts/eval.ts spec. Cross-checks: zig-api-drift subagent ran; current surface matches baseline exactly (no additions/removals/changes). Fitness walker reports 0 violations. verify-pr tier runs OK with Darwin fuzz degrading explicitly per ADR 0003. WHY: finalize the scaffold's human-readable entry point and record all observed plan-vs-reality deviations so the next session does not relitigate them. WHAT: README.md plus ADR 0001 appended entries. IMPACT: new file + edit; no other files touched. VALIDATION: zig-api-drift subagent confirmed drift=none; fitness walker exit 0; verify-pr OK.
CodeRabbit-flagged correctness fixes:
- scripts/lib/zig.ts: replace shell-builtin `command -v mise` with
Bun.which("mise"). Bun.spawnSync cannot exec shell builtins.
- scripts/lib/runtime.ts: appendJsonl now uses node:fs/promises
appendFile (atomic O_APPEND) instead of read-then-write to prevent
data loss under concurrent verify-* writers. Removed unused
SpawnOpts.timeoutMs and SpawnResult.timedOut fields.
- scripts/lib/files.ts: existsRelaxed/collectZigInputs now use
node:fs.existsSync. Bun.file(p).size on directories throws.
- scripts/verify-fast.ts: Bun.which("ziglint") instead of `command -v`.
- scripts/verify-pr.ts: cpuCount() uses node:os.cpus() (browser shim
navigator.hardwareConcurrency unreliable in Bun CI containers).
Removed dead `verdict === 0 ? 1 : verdict` ternary.
- scripts/verify-release.ts: cpuCount() uses node:os; Bun.which for
syft and cosign instead of `command -v`. Same dead-ternary fix.
- scripts/check-public-api.ts: extractSurface is now async and uses
Bun.file(p).exists() instead of .size which can throw on missing.
- scripts/verify-commit.ts: drop unused spawnSync import.
- scripts/emit-sbom.zig: replace .unlimited with .limited(1 MiB) so
a tampered build.zig.zon cannot OOM the SBOM emitter.
- tests/evals/domains/io-injection/02-compliant.zig: rewrite to use
std.Io as a capability AND a separate *std.Io.Writer parameter.
Prior `io.out.writeAll` form does not exist in Zig 0.16.
- doc/TIGER_STYLE_ZIG.md: clarify BoundedArray/LinearFifo were
removed in 0.15.1 (still gone in 0.16). Snapshot env var:
ZIG_QM_UPDATE_SNAPSHOTS (project convention) not ZIG_UPDATE_SNAPSHOTS.
- .forgejo/prompts/review.md: drop non-existent --diff flag; document
the actual default-mode behavior of check-public-api.ts.
Biome auto-fixes (template literals, import ordering): 9 files
reformatted. No behavior change. Validates against the global
pre-commit `nix run nixpkgs#biome` hook.
Gates re-run after fixes:
- verify-fast: OK
- verify-commit: OK (16/16 tests still pass)
- check-public-api: OK (surface matches baseline)
- eval --check: OK
- biome check scripts: OK (no fixes applied)
WHY: CodeRabbit review of the scaffold's first commit pair flagged 13
correctness/safety defects (potential_issue level) plus 21 nitpicks.
The 13 fixes here are correctness; the nitpicks (JSON Schema
validation, alternate hardening, inline-script extraction) are
intentionally deferred and tracked for v1.
WHAT: 13 source files updated to use real binary lookups, atomic
appends, node:fs/os APIs, and 0.16-correct Zig idioms; biome
reformatted 9 of them.
IMPACT: scaffold-only fixes; no public API surface change (baseline
still matches). No new dependencies.
VALIDATION: all four verify gates re-run green; biome clean.

Robot Generated with Claude Code - If this code review was useful, please react with thumbs-up. Otherwise, react with thumbs-down. |
The repo-local CLAUDE.md was authored by the initial scaffold pass but never landed in git because the user's global ~/.config/git/ignore excludes CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md repo-wide (a sensible default for most repos to keep agent context out of public history). This is the one repo where shipping CLAUDE.md is the whole point — the file is the agent context entry point that README.md §147 and doc/ARCHITECTURE.md §136 already reference. Force-adding both with -f bypasses the global ignore for this repo without touching the global config. Symlink AGENTS.md → CLAUDE.md is preserved for industry compatibility. WHY: Code review on PR #1 (issue #1, score 80) flagged dangling CLAUDE.md references in README and ARCHITECTURE pointing at a missing file. The file actually existed locally; it was being silently ignored. This commit makes the file shipped. WHAT: Two files newly tracked (CLAUDE.md 51 lines + AGENTS.md symlink). No content change to either; both have been on disk and correct since the initial scaffold. IMPACT: README and ARCHITECTURE references now resolve. No code change. No new dependencies. VALIDATION: git ls-tree HEAD -- CLAUDE.md AGENTS.md returns both entries; the @-imports inside CLAUDE.md (doc/ARCHITECTURE.md, doc/TIGER_STYLE_ZIG.md) point at files that exist.
Issue resolvedThe dangling Both files are now tracked at the PR head:

WHY: 2026-05-05 user direction to follow ~/.claude/scratch/zig-quality-plan.md. Plan §3 + §10.5 row E specify the canonical trio as api-drift / fuzzer / release-engineer (haiku/sonnet/opus). Live repo had verifier/fixer/api-drift per ADR 0001 deviation #2. Integrated plan §0.13 establishes single source of truth, making reconciliation mandatory before PR #1 merges. WHAT: ADR 0001 deviation #2 marked SUPERSEDED with forward pointer. Off-tree disk reconciliation (since .claude/agents/ is globally git-ignored): removed zig-verifier.md + zig-fixer.md; added zig-fuzzer.md (sonnet) and zig-release-engineer.md (opus) with body text matching the rigor of the retained zig-api-drift.md (Zig wrapper resolution, untrusted-data boundary, Darwin fuzz degradation, structured output). Git tracks only the ADR. IMPACT: claude-zig-quality subagent surface matches plan §3 + §10.5 E. Capability previously offered by verifier (clean JSON verdict) and fixer (worktree isolation, forbidden paths, bounded retries) preserved indirectly via main-agent direct gate invocation through Stop hook + verify scripts. PR #1 review can now reference the canonical trio. VALIDATION: ls .claude/agents/ shows api-drift, fuzzer, release-engineer (verifier+fixer absent). ADR 0001 §Deviation 2 begins with the SUPERSEDED 2026-05-05 block. jj log shows this commit on top of chore/coderabbit-autofix-r2 with only doc/adr/0001-plan-deviations.md modified.
…via TDD (#2) Three rounds of bot-review autofix bundled into one squash merge: ## Round 1 — autofix r2 (27 findings + biome formatter pass) Initial CR plain-text-mode review covering all of scripts/, doc/, config. ## Round 2 — R7 (4 fresh findings) - TIGER_STYLE_ZIG.md §1.2 sanctioned-exception paragraph for `pub fn main` - verify-release.ts Bun.Glob `*` non-recursive intent + boundary test - 2 STALE-verified (hashDir framing, writerStreaming idiom) ## Round 3 — R8 (3 Windows-portability hardening + 3 stale-resolved) - verify-release.ts: path.relative() framing (Windows path-separator agnostic) - verify-release.ts: hashDir + listArtifacts ENOENT vs IO error distinction - sign-glob.test.ts: path.basename() instead of split('/') ## Validation - bun test tests/unit/ → 15 pass / 0 fail / 24 expect() - bun scripts/verify-fast.ts → OK - biome check + zig fmt + zig ast-check clean - bunx tsc --noEmit reports only pre-existing TS5097 (.ts-extension imports — needs allowImportingTsExtensions in tsconfig) and TS2322 (LogLine spread inference) — both pre-existing, not introduced here ## Reviewers - ✅ CodeRabbit: APPROVED 2026-05-06 - ✅ Kilo Code Review: SUCCESS - ✅ Copilot/Codex/Codex P2: stale threads manually resolved via GraphQL since Copilot/Codex/Kilo don't auto-resolve like CR 42 net new tests + 5 unit-test files + 7 inline Zig tests covering hardening contracts.
WHY: Cipher writes runtime session state to data/cipher-sessions.db (+ -shm/-wal SQLite sidecars). These are machine-local runtime artifacts and a security/hygiene hazard if committed. WHAT: Add `data/cipher-sessions*` to .gitignore, covering all three SQLite file variants (.db, .db-shm, .db-wal). IMPACT: Prevents accidental commit of Cipher session state on feat/initial-scaffold (PR #1). No tracked files removed — none were ever tracked. VALIDATION: `git ls-files | grep -i cipher` returns empty (nothing tracked); `git status --ignored data/` reports `!! data/` confirming the pattern matches all three existing files.
…cstring WHY: two still-valid bot findings against the canonical template: 1. (Codex P1, scripts/lib/runtime.ts) repoRoot() called Bun.spawnSync(["jj", ...]) unconditionally. Bun throws ENOENT (does not return a non-zero exit code) when the binary is absent, so on a git-only or tool-less runner the intended git/cwd fallback never ran — every verifier that imports repoRoot() crashed at import instead of reporting a normal gate result. 2. (Codex P2, scripts/zig-api-surface.zig) the module docstring claimed it inventories `pub usingnamespace` decls, but classifyDecl() only handles fn and var/const tags and returns null for everything else. WHAT: - runtime.ts: wrap each spawnSync probe in try/catch via a trySpawn helper, so a missing jj OR git falls through to the next candidate (jj → git → cwd) instead of throwing. - zig-api-surface.zig: correct the docstring. `usingnamespace` was removed from the language in Zig 0.15.1 (gone in 0.16) and is banned by the fitness gate, so it cannot appear in any targeted file. A 0.16 re-export surface is `pub const X = @import(...)`, which IS captured as a pub const. classifyDecl intentionally handles only fn + var/const tags. IMPACT: scripts/lib/runtime.ts + scripts/zig-api-surface.zig. VALIDATION: - `zig ast-check scripts/zig-api-surface.zig` → clean. - `bun build scripts/lib/runtime.ts` → clean. - Smoke test: `repoRoot()` returns the correct path with jj excluded from PATH (falls through to git) instead of throwing. Findings already addressed at HEAD (resolved as stale, no code change): - shasum shell-out in verify-release.ts → hashDir already uses Bun.CryptoHasher in-process. - domainDirs dead code in eval.ts → already replaced with readdirSync. - JSON escaping in zig-fitness emit/emitFmt → escapeJsonString (RFC 8259 §7) already applied to all fields. - emit-sbom JSON escaping + docstring → escapeJsonString applied; deps now extracted so "every entry under .dependencies" is accurate.

- Line 35: The workflow's skills list under the skills: key references
non-existent skills "zig-quality,zig-build-system,zig-fuzz-target"; either add
corresponding skill manifests (one directory per skill in .claude/skills/ with
SKILL.md and required metadata for zig-quality, zig-build-system, and
zig-fuzz-target) or update the skills: line in
.forgejo/workflows/claude-review.yaml to only reference skills that actually
exist in the repo (replace or remove those three names).
In @.zig-qm/2026-05-06-audit.md:
- Around line 4-7: The audit header currently embeds workstation-specific
locations (the tilde-prefixed value under the "Plan source" and the mirrored
path under "Plan mirror", and the explicit provenance snapshot), so update the
audit header lines (the "Plan source:", "Plan mirror:" and "Provenance:"
entries) to remove or redact local filesystem paths and replace them with
repo-relative identifiers or a redacted snapshot label (e.g.,
"repo:zig-quality-plan.md" or "redacted-snapshot:YYYY-MM-DD") and a
non-sensitive provenance tag; ensure the header keys remain unchanged so
consumers still parse them but no longer leak local paths.
- Around line 122-133: The Gate F summary incorrectly marks the check as a full
structural pass despite documenting a producer/consumer format mismatch for
.zig-qm/public-api.txt; update the Gate F header and result wording (the "✅
**PASSES structurally**" line and any table row entries referencing
`.zig-qm/public-api.txt` / "cross-format read") to reflect a partial/deferred
status (e.g., "⚠️ PARTIAL / DEFERRED — format mismatch present"), and adjust the
implication sentence about Group J final report to state that the gate is
transitional and the pass is deferred until the JSON vs line-oriented format gap
is closed (ensure references to "Gate F (gitstore-cli compatibility)" and
`.zig-qm/public-api.txt` remain accurate).
In `@doc/adr/0001-plan-deviations.md`:
- Around line 72-108: The subsection incorrectly asserts the canonical subagent
set is `api-drift`/`fuzzer`/`release-engineer`; update the text to match the
scaffold and PR by naming the delivered subagents `zig-verifier`, `zig-fixer`,
and `zig-api-drift` (update the opening sentence, the reconciliation/commit
description, and any bullet points referencing the canonical set), and ensure
mentions of model pins or preserved capabilities reference the `zig-` prefixed
agents consistently so the ADR no longer contradicts the added scaffold files
(`zig-verifier`, `zig-fixer`, `zig-api-drift`).
In `@doc/schemas/dora.schema.json`:

calling it "median hours"; update the description for mttr_hours to state "Mean
Time to Restore: average hours to recover from a production failure. null = not
yet measured." so it matches ADR 0004 and the type definition ("number" or
"null") remains unchanged; locate mttr_hours in the JSON schema to change only
the description text.
In `@doc/TIGER_STYLE_ZIG.md`:
- Around line 111-114: Update the §1.4 table row for
"std.heap.GeneralPurposeAllocator(.{}) → std.heap.DebugAllocator(.{})" to
explicitly state that this is a caller-side/test wiring suggestion only (e.g.,
use std.heap.DebugAllocator when the caller wants a debug allocator for tests or
local wiring) and not a library default; clarify that library/public code must
continue to accept a std.mem.Allocator parameter and must not construct a
GeneralPurposeAllocator or DebugAllocator internally, and adjust the text in
TIGER_STYLE_ZIG.md to reference std.mem.Allocator,
std.heap.GeneralPurposeAllocator, and std.heap.DebugAllocator by name so readers
know where to apply each rule.
In `@scripts/check-public-api.ts`:
- Around line 118-134: Convert the leading block comment above the exported
function emitDriftDiff into a proper JSDoc comment (/** ... */) placed
immediately above the function declaration; include brief `@param` tags for root,
baseline, current, and rmFn (documenting rmFn's signature and default), and an
`@returns` tag indicating Promise<void>, preserving the existing explanatory text
about cleanup behavior and unit-testing/export rationale.
In `@scripts/emit-sbom.zig`:
- Line 71: The placeholder "claude-zig-quality#TBD" in the SBOM error/message
strings should be replaced with the real issue tracker numbers for the v1
dependency extraction work; find and update every occurrence of that literal
(e.g., the message string "manifest declares `.dependencies` but the v1 stub
could not extract any entries; refusing to publish an incomplete SBOM (see
claude-zig-quality#TBD)" and the other occurrences on the same file around the
previously reported lines) to use the concrete issue IDs and ensure the text
remains grammatically correct and consistent across all occurrences.
- Line 47: Confirm and keep the Zig 0.16 readFileAlloc call signature when
fixing the code: ensure the call to std.Io.Dir.cwd().readFileAlloc(io, path,
gpa, .limited(MAX_ZON_BYTES)) uses (io, allocator, limit) order
(function/method: readFileAlloc, variable: source, constant: MAX_ZON_BYTES) and
apply the same pattern in scripts/zig-api-surface.zig and
scripts/zig-fitness.zig if present; additionally replace every placeholder
reference "claude-zig-quality#TBD" in scripts/emit-sbom.zig (the "see ...#TBD"
log entry and the two TODO comments) with concrete issue numbers or URLs so the
log and TODOs point to real tracker items.
In `@scripts/verify-release.ts`:

from the comment in scripts/verify-release.ts and leave the explanatory text
about the length-prefixed framing (`path \0 size \0 bytes`) and the warning
against regressing to a naive `hasher.update(bytes)` loop; keep the reference to
tests/unit/hash-zig-out.test.ts so the rationale and test link remain clear.
In `@scripts/zig-api-surface.zig`:
- Around line 25-48: The CLI args iterator initialization uses the wrong stdlib
symbol; replace the call to std.process.Args.Iterator.init(init.minimal.args)
with the Zig 0.16 API variant (use
std.process.ArgIterator.init(init.minimal.args) or
std.process.ArgIterator.initWithAllocator(...) if an allocator is required),
update the local variable arg_iter to the correct ArgIterator type, and keep the
subsequent uses of arg_iter.next(), _ = arg_iter.next(), and the existing usage
of init.minimal.args unchanged so the rest of main (including printErr,
readFileAlloc, and std.zig.Ast.parse) compiles against Zig 0.16.
In `@tests/evals/domains/allocator-discipline/01-hidden-allocator.zig`:
- Line 4: Change the allocator type for variable module_gpa from
std.heap.GeneralPurposeAllocator(.{}) to std.heap.DebugAllocator(.{}) so the
declaration reads with the DebugAllocator type (keep the existing initializer

Verified each finding vs live state with rg/bat before fixing. CR's
args-iterator "Critical" was FALSE: zig-fitness.zig + zig-api-surface.zig
compile cleanly under 0.16 (confirmed via `zig build-exe`).
Real findings fixed:
- (Major) force-add the .claude/ product tree (agents/hooks/skills/settings)
so the skills the claude-review workflow loads exist in the repo. Also
resolves the ADR-0002 grounded-facts "missing file" finding (file existed
locally, was never committed past the global .claude/ gitignore).
- (Major) reconcile CLAUDE.md + README.md + ARCHITECTURE.md subagent trio to
the actual files + ADR-0001 reconciliation note:
zig-api-drift (haiku) / zig-fuzzer (sonnet) / zig-release-engineer (opus).
- (Major) tsconfig.json: add tests/**/*.ts to the strict TS include set
(5 verifier-harness test files were uncovered).
- (Critical->cosmetic) eval fixture 01-hidden-allocator.zig:
GeneralPurposeAllocator -> DebugAllocator(.{}) so it isolates the
hidden-allocator dimension instead of also tripping the GPA-is-drift rule.
- (Minor) dora.schema.json: canonical /blob/main/ $id.
- (lint) pretooluse-zig-preflight.ts: replace the forbidden non-null
assertion (proposed!) with a narrowed `const source: string`.
- biome-format the newly-tracked .claude/hooks/*.ts + settings.json.
New file: biome.json — pins the formatter (tab indent) and, crucially, sets
files.includes to exclude .zig-cache / zig-out / node_modules / .claude logs
so the Biome gate no longer lints Zig build-doc HTML artifacts (the prior
gate failure source).
VALIDATION: biome check -> 45 files clean (0 errors); zig ast-check (eval
fixture) + zig build-exe (zig-fitness) + bun build (preflight hook) clean;
tsconfig + dora valid JSON.

WHY: PR #1 carried 17 unresolved CodeRabbit review threads. Each was validated against HEAD and the actual Zig 0.16.0 stdlib before fixing; 3 were refuted (args-iterator "won't compile" claims — all three aux programs compile natively; JSDoc claim — comment already /**), 4 were already resolved by the staged R4 work (.claude tree, tsconfig, allocator fixture), and the remainder are fixed here. WHAT: - emit-sbom.zig: claude-zig-quality#TBD -> #3 (tracked issue created) - adr/0001: close Deviation 2 with resolution line (trio reconciled in ba30bf0: zig-api-drift/zig-fuzzer/zig-release-engineer) - 2026-05-06-audit.md: redact workstation paths; Gate F downgraded to PARTIAL PASS while public-api.txt format gap persists - TIGER_STYLE_ZIG.md §1.4: DebugAllocator row scoped to caller-side wiring; libraries take injected Allocator per §1.1 - dora.schema.json: mttr_hours "median" -> "mean" (matches ADR 0004) - runtime.ts tail(): document character-based truncation contract, rename param bytes -> maxChars (byte-slicing could split UTF-8) - verify-release.ts: drop stale "Codex R7 P2 — STALE" comment prefix - io-injection/02-compliant.zig: document 128-byte buffer limit IMPACT: docs/scripts only; no public API change (check-public-api OK); cross-platform args hardening for the Zig aux programs landed in R4. VALIDATION: bun scripts/verify-fast.ts OK; bun scripts/verify-commit.ts OK (zig build test + API baseline); bun test 15/15; all three aux programs compile for native and x86_64-windows-msvc.

the release, and cosign is invoked with --output-signature instead of shell

- eval/SKILL.md (.claude+.agents): rewrite the eval-tree diagram to match
the shipped flat layout (tests/evals/domains/<domain>/NN-name.{zig,
expect.json}); drop nonexistent fixtures/, build-system, fuzz-target.
- zig-quality/assets/gate-map.md (both): escape the pipes in
`PostToolUse(Write\|Edit\|MultiEdit)` so the markdown table renders.
- zig-quality/references/allocator-discipline.md (both): remove the false
"ArenaAllocator is lock-free and thread-safe" claim (R5); replace the
placeholder grep `std.ArrayList(…)\.init\(` with the real matcher the
posttool hook uses (R5 line 106).
- zig-quality/references/release-checklist.md (both): fix ADR ref
0006 → 0003-darwin-fuzz-degradation.md (two occurrences each).
- verify/SKILL.md (both): fail closed on unknown tier names; only default
to `fast` when the tier arg is omitted.
- .claude/agents/zig-release-engineer.md: drop Bash(git tag:*) from the
read-only agent's tools whitelist (main agent owns tagging). The .codex
toml has no tools field; no change needed there.
- hooks (.claude + .codex, all four): add explicit `return;` after every
emitPreTool/emitPostTool so a deny can never fall through to a later
allow; reorder mcp-boundary-scanner so the warn-log still fires when
blocking.
- pretooluse-zig-preflight.ts (both): unique per-invocation temp file via
crypto.randomUUID() + try/finally rm cleanup (was a shared static path).
- prompt-infra-ref/SKILL.md: already-addressed PII path confirmed; line 22
has no separate issue.
- biome.json: ignore .omc runtime-state artifacts and drop the legacy /**
folder-glob suffix (silences biome 2.4 warnings; check . now exits 0).
IMPACT: .claude/, .agents/, .codex/ runtime mirrors (now consistent),
biome config. No source/build logic changed; hooks remain behaviorally
equivalent (emit* were already process.exit-terminal) but are now
explicitly terminal and concurrency-safe.
VALIDATION:
- bunx @biomejs/biome check .claude/ .agents/ .codex/ scripts/ tests/ → 0
- bunx @biomejs/biome check . → exit 0 (1 advisory info only)
- bun build <each changed hook> --target=bun → bundles clean (type-checks)
- grep confirms: no 0006 refs remain, no unescaped table pipes, no
git tag in agent tools, crypto.randomUUID() in both preflight mirrors,
all four hooks byte-identical across .claude/.codex.

There was a problem hiding this comment.
🔥 The Roast: This line screams ArenaAllocator is now thread-safe and lock-free like it just discovered the secret to parallel allocation. Meanwhile, the same repo's allocator-discipline reference (lines 66-70 of the same PR) explicitly corrected this to ArenaAllocator is NOT thread-safe. The Allocator section is gaslighting the R5 section. This is the documentation equivalent of a person saying "I'm fine" while on fire.
🩹 The Fix: Delete or replace line 88-89 with the correct rule from allocator-discipline.md:
`ArenaAllocator` is NOT thread-safe — allocate one per thread/task; wrap the backing allocator, not the arena.
📏 Severity: critical
This is a direct factual contradiction within the same commit: allocator-discipline.md was correctly updated to say ArenaAllocator is NOT thread-safe, but 0.16-idioms.md still carries the old lie. Any engineer reading the idioms doc would write thread-unsafe code immediately after reading the allocator-discipline correction.
…yList) WHY: Cross-validation against the sibling-repo revision plans (synthfq, gitstore-cli) surfaced two 0.16-drift items in this repo that CodeRabbit's PR #1 threads never flagged, so R5 left them untouched. Both are the exact drift classes this template exists to police. WHAT: - doc/TIGER_STYLE_ZIG.md §1.4: argsAlloc row no longer claims the API is "unchanged"; right column now shows the Juicy Main pattern init.minimal.args.toSlice(init.arena.allocator()). - scripts/zig-fitness.zig (stack walk + escapeJsonString) and scripts/emit-sbom.zig (escapeJsonString): std.array_list.Managed replaced with unmanaged std.ArrayList (.empty, append(gpa, ...), deinit(gpa), toOwnedSlice(gpa)). IMPACT: docs + aux scripts only; no public API change (baseline OK); scripts/ now has zero std.array_list.Managed occurrences. VALIDATION: zig-fitness + emit-sbom compile for native and x86_64-windows-msvc; verify-commit OK (fmt, ast-check, zig build test, API baseline); bun test 15/15.
* fix(quality): R6 — close cross-plan gaps (argsAlloc row, Managed ArrayList) WHY: Cross-validation against the sibling-repo revision plans (synthfq, gitstore-cli) surfaced two 0.16-drift items in this repo that CodeRabbit's PR #1 threads never flagged, so R5 left them untouched. Both are the exact drift classes this template exists to police. The v0 emitter stubbed dependency extraction (findStructField returned null), so any manifest declaring .dependencies failed closed and no SBOM with components could ever be published. WHAT: real std.zig.Ast extraction using the stdlib's own zon idioms (rootDecls()[0] zon root, fullStructInit, firstToken(field)-2 name token — same as std/zon/parse.zig): - findStructField walks .dependencies and returns one DepEntry per declared dep (caller-freed slice; allocator now explicit). - findStringFieldInStruct extracts .url/.hash strings from each entry. - Fail-closed guard retained: a .dependencies value that is not a struct init still raises IncompleteSbom (new regression test). - Stub-era wording removed from SbomError doc and refusal log. IMPACT: emit-sbom now publishes CycloneDX components for declared dependencies; path-only deps appear with empty hash/url. No public API change (baseline OK). VALIDATION: TDD red->green; zig test scripts/emit-sbom.zig 4/4 (extraction, fail-closed, no-deps, JSON escaping); e2e run on the repo's own build.zig.zon emits valid CycloneDX; native + x86_64-windows-msvc compile; verify-commit OK; bun test 15/15. * fix(sbom): emit schema-safe dependency metadata
…ail to runtime
WHY
The 6 entry scripts and 6 hooks ran a bare top-level `await main()` (or
`main().catch(...)`) with no exports, so importing any of them triggered a
live gate/hook run. That made in-process unit testing impossible and blocked
the 322-test coverage drive (test plan groups T3–T34 all import these units).
WHAT
- T0 infra: bunfig.toml (coverage=true, lcov+text reporters) + coverage/ seed.
- T1 wave A — entry scripts (behavior-preserving):
- verify-fast/commit/pr/zls-check/doc-coverage/eval: wrap invocation in
`if (import.meta.main) await main()`; export `main()`.
- Moved `printFail` from verify-fast.ts into lib/runtime.ts (exported,
tier-agnostic); callers pass the `verify-fast:` prefix so output is
byte-identical.
- DI seams: CommitDeps (verify-commit), PrDeps + exported
TARGETS/SAFETY_MODES/FUZZ_TIMEOUT_MS/runFuzzBounded (verify-pr),
injectable zig (doc-coverage).
- Exported resolveFiles (zls-check, doc-coverage),
checkStructure+validateExpectJson (eval).
- zls-check: ZLS_TIMEOUT_MS validation moved into main() so import is
side-effect-free.
- T2 wave B — hooks (behavior-preserving):
- bash-guard: export DENY_PATTERNS, UNTRUSTED_INSTR_MARKERS, main; guard.
- mcp-boundary-scanner: export HIGH_RISK, ZERO_WIDTH, BLOCK_MODE, main; add
pure exported riskLevel(count) helper; guard.
- pretooluse-zig-preflight / posttooluse-zig: export main(zig?) DI; export
BANNED_API (posttool); guard.
- session-start: export main; guard.
- stop-dod: export main(runDodGate?) so the verify-commit verdict is
injectable; guard.
IMPACT
Every per-turn/per-commit/per-PR gate and every lifecycle hook. No behavior
change — pure refactor + test-infra config. No test files added in this
commit (lands the refactor as its own reviewable unit per the plan's #1 risk
mitigation).
VALIDATION
- bun build (bundle) clean on all 12 files.
- Import-smoke: all 15 script exports + 14 hook exports present, and NO main()
ran on import (guards hold).
- Live paths preserved via subprocess: verify-fast OK; verify-commit OK (full
Debug test + pinned ziglint + public-API, exit 0); eval --check OK;
bash-guard deny→permissionDecision:deny exit0, allow→{continue:true} exit0;
session-start emits SessionStart additionalContext.
- Existing suite: 33 pass / 0 fail.
- biome check scripts/ and .claude/hooks/ → exit 0.
