A new optional tag `VER` was added to the lcov tracefile since lcov 2.0, see [this commit](linux-test-project/lcov@d98659a#diff-11624b60e56b7c978f3fe477bb41fa44e47e44882387d656028d1566ba9caef8R758-R766) cov-mode would complain about "Unable to parse lcov data ..." and "SF with no preceeding end_of_record ..." when parsing lcov tracefile containing this data section.
