The main goals are:

• Building trust and credibility for the library for newcomers
• Giving real-world examples of how developers use FileKit

This is a great idea! I use FileKit for Heron, an open source KMP bluesky client. Specifically Filekit is used for fetching images for previewing when uploading images or videos to bluesky.

The app is

• Offline first
• Large screens first
• Edge to edge
• Has a bunch of animations as seen in blog posts like this and this.

I use FileKit on Composables's SVG to Compose tool. Love how simple you made it to just pick files.

It was particularly handy because I build my Compose apps on JVM and I needed the tool to be published on my site. Debugging apps on the web is a pain right now, so FileKit made it a breeze. Kudos!

I use FileKit in Butler, a Compose Multiplatform BYOK AI Chat App. It is useful for sending images to AI models. In the future, I plan to support sending other files, such as PDFs. The client is available on iOS, Android, Dekstop (JVM) and WasmJS (very experimental).

I use FileKit in PixelSafe, a Compose Multiplatform Steganography app.

It works really well, so I will soon switch to it in Ashampoo Photo Organizer, which is a Compose Multiplatform photo management tool.

EDIT: Migration is done for my Photo Organizer and the macOS version (using your lib) online. :)

I use FileKit in AndroidToolKit. For me, FileKit meets all my needs for file selection, whether it is folder or file selection, it is very easy to use

We use FileKit in Splital, an app for splitting expenses with others, currently available on Android and iPhone. Users can add their expenses, indicate who paid, and choose how they want to split the amount. Splital then automatically calculates who owes whom and how much, so users can stop worrying about the math and focus on enjoying their time.

FileKit is used for:

• Attaching photos of receipts to expenses (camera and gallery)
• Adding profile pictures for users (camera and gallery)
• Adding pictures to groups (camera and gallery)
• Image compression before uploading them
• Saving expense reports as PDF and CSV files

We've been using FileKit since February 2025, and our experience has been amazing! 👍🏻

Hey Vincent!

I use FileKit in Tracker - Manager for Bluesky - available on Android & iOS and used by thousands of users. It's a companion app for tracking and managing your Bluesky social network. It provides real-time insights into followers, unfollowers, blocks, and post analytics. The app allows users to monitor their audience, manage connections, analyze content performance and perform bulk actions.

Built with KMP and CMP, FileKit came handy in order to provide my users the ability to export some of their data as .json files and import them with your file picker, so that the users can easily move their data between phones.

I use FileKit in my Parrot Workout Tracker app, on Android & iOS.

I created yet another workout tracker because I wanted one that doesn't come with subscriptions and is tailored to my needs.
Feature rich but e.g. no Exercise Pictures. Not really beginner friendly but I'm working on it lol.

Your library enabled me to more quickly implement importing and exporting data, routines, and images of my workout completion screen so users can share their completed workout without having to take a screenshot.

Thank you! I try to market it inside Bluesky itself, I have built a community there and I was lucky as I was the first in the market so got some traction early on. Other than that, I have just been listed in 3-4 websites/app directories.

But marketing is really hard to be honest if you don't have a large budget (I don't). Creating a presence in related communities, participating and ultimately showing "why you are better" is the only way I have found to work.

The applications are many, but this library integrates perfectly in different contexts ;)
