Brew install not working

I tried brew install --cask --no-quarantine sourcegit but it reported the following:

Thank to @ybeapps, SourceGit is now available in the official Homebrew Cask repository. And the package is already signed.

So, it is not necessary to run brew tap ybeapps/homebrew-sourcegit and the --no-quarantine option is also no longer needed.

If you have tapped the ybeapps/homebrew-sourcegit repo, you can run brew untap ybeapps/homebrew-sourcegit to remove the third-party homebrew cask repo.

To install SourceGit on macOS via Homebrew, the right command is:

brew install --cask sourcegit

I followed your instructions, but I keep getting this on brew install --cask sourcegit, the SHA mismatch:

I managed to reproduce the issue - I'll check it

@harrybawsac and @love-linger sorry about this - I'm new with pushing to homebrew

the flow is like this:

1. homebrew performs live check every 3 hours to check if THIS repo has new release
2. if new release is found - it downloads it from MY repo (so we need to make sure we always at sync)

what happened is like this:

1. I pushed to homebrew current version with SHA
2. then for my small fixes I recreated it several times, but since the version number is the same - the SHA remained the same in homebrew - causing the SHA check to fail

next steps:

1. keep using the tap - it will work
2. whenever a new version will be released - and updated in my repo - and brew bot updated in their system too - then it'll work for everyone
3. my PR need to be concluded so we'll always be in sync

I just saw the app listed as new in Hombebrew and wanted to check it and sadly faced the same issue.

I think the issue/problem boils down from this:

In general this is kind of a security measure to avoid downloading a package that was tempered with.

I guess it's possible to make a PR in homebrew to fix the hash but I think, going forward best way would be to avoid re-doing release with same version.

Also: I think it's possible to specify in cask that it should not automatically check for updates (but this would require for someone to make the PR manually each time there is a new release…)

With what's currently in readme and sourcegit being in homebrew core if you want to install via custom tap you have to specify it explicitly:

brew install --cask --no-quarantine ybeapps/sourcegit/sourcegit
