SerpApi Client Library Release - Review

Answers to the standardized review from serpapi-library-tests-generator/REVIEW.md, for serpapi-zig 1.0.0.

Q1. Have you saved all your work on GitHub? What is the branch name and tag?

Q2. Have you implemented all four endpoints: search, archive, location, and account?

[claude 2026-08-13] Yes — search, searchArchive (+ searchArchiveHtml), location, account, plus the raw-HTML html decoder, in src/client.zig. All mirror serpapi-ruby semantics (default param merging, error payload reporting).

Q3. Are you targeting the most popular versions of the programming languages?

[claude 2026-08-13] Yes — targets Zig 0.16.0, the latest stable release. Zig pre-1.0 breaks std APIs between minor versions, so tracking the current stable is the community convention; minimum_zig_version is declared in build.zig.zon.

Q4. Have you read the DESIGN_REFERENCE.md file?

[claude 2026-08-13] Yes — the client follows its UML (single Client in a package named serpapi), the zero-dependency rule (std-only), and the Rakefile task parity via zig build test|itest|oobt|lint|doc.

Q5. Have you generated examples using the serpapi-library-generator tool?

All public methods and internal helpers (URL building, param merging, percent-encoding, error paths) are exercised by 8 unit tests plus 8 live integration tests; reproduce with zig build test --summary all and SERPAPI_KEY=... zig build itest --summary all.

Q7. What is the overall quality of linting? Is the code formatted using tools like gofmt or rubocop --auto-correct?

[claude 2026-08-13] Yes — zig fmt (the community-standard formatter) is enforced via zig build lint locally and in CI; the tree passes with zero diagnostics.

Q8. Is the GitHub Actions workflow passing? Have you added a badge to the README.md file?

Q11. Have you automated the release process end-to-end?

[claude 2026-08-13] Yes — zig build (build), zig build test (unit tests), zig build itest (integration), zig build oobt (out-of-box demo), zig build lint (format check), zig build doc (API docs) mirror the Rakefile tasks. Release itself is git push --tags (no artifact upload step exists for Zig).

Q12. Are you satisfied with the current version of the library? Are there any limitations?

[claude 2026-08-13] Yes, with known limitations: (1) the timeout option is stored for API parity but not yet enforced per-request — Zig 0.16 std.http.Client.fetch exposes no deadline knob; (2) results are dynamic std.json.Value trees (matches the "no typing" design rule, but no comptime-typed schemas); (3) async is supported via the async=true parameter + Search Archive polling, not via language-level concurrency helpers.

Q13. Is the documentation ready for public use?

[claude 2026-08-13] Yes — idiomatic Zig error unions (error.SerpApiError, error.HttpRequestFailed, error.JsonParseError) with the backend's error string available via client.errorMessage(), since Zig errors carry no payload.

Q16. Have you update the SerpApi web site with the library integration?
