[lyrics][BUG] Lyrics plugin error whenever music starts playing #593

Description

@HelmicNewciv

Submission checklist

  • I have searched existing issues and confirmed this is not a duplicate.
  • I am using the latest available version of Noctalia and of the plugin.
  • This is a bug in a community plugin, not in Noctalia itself (those belong in the noctalia repo).

Plugin

Plugin version

1.5.0

Bug description

Noctalia reports the Lyrics plugin has stopped responding and was disabled whenever music in a supported player starts to play. I have never been able to get it - or any other lyrics plugin like LRC - to actually display lyrics, but this is the only plugin that shows an error.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install and enable Lyrics plugin. It is not necessary to add the widget to the panel, though this happens with the widget as well
  2. Open a media player in Lyrics's allowed players list or that is otherwise supported.
  3. Play music.

Expected behavior

Lyrics should display in the widget.

Actual behavior

Noctalia sends a notification stating that the plugin has become unresponsive and that it has been disabled.

Logs / error output

`2026-09-02 03:39:57.609 [ERR] [luau] plugin h465855hgg/lyrics:service: call to 'async command callback' failed: [string "/home/helmic/.local/state/noctalia/plugins/materialized/community/lyrics/lyrics_service.luau"]:799: script callback 'async command callback' exceeded its CPU budget`

Noctalia version

v5.0.0-beta.10-60-g0c9d65d71b69)

Environment information

OS: CachyOS
WM: Umbriel, Mango

Additional context

None of the lyrics plugins seem to work, but they do not show any error messages. If I use something like lrc_tty in the terminal, it can display lyrics just fine, but none of the plugin widgets will display anything, nor do the plugins show any error messages in nocatlia.log.
