Slash commands missing on copilot cli?

Hi all...not sure what's going on but I have installed it today and I am running into some troubles. The copilot commands are missing. The setup ended correctly albeit it showed a warning. When I am in copilot cli inside the project I cannot find any specify command.

Hi @LunaticMuch — nothing is broken with your install; the commands are there, they're just not surfaced the way you're expecting in Copilot CLI. 👍

The default Copilot integration (the "legacy markdown" mode the warning mentions) installs Spec Kit as custom agents, not slash commands:

• .github/agents/speckit.*.agent.md → Copilot agents
• .github/prompts/speckit.*.prompt.md → prompt files for VS Code Copilot Chat

In Copilot CLI, custom agents aren't invoked as /speckit.specify — they're invoked through the /agent picker. So you have two working options:

Option 1 — use the agents you already installed (no reinstall needed)

In copilot, type:

/agent speckit.constitution
/agent speckit.specify
/agent speckit.plan
/agent speckit.tasks
/agent speckit.implement

Typing /agent on its own also brings up a picker listing all the speckit.* agents.

Option 2 — reinstall in skills mode for real / slash commands

If you specifically want top-level slash commands in the CLI, opt into skills mode (this is what the deprecation warning is nudging you toward):

specify init <project> --integration copilot --integration-options="--skills"

That installs .github/skills/speckit-*/SKILL.md, which Copilot CLI surfaces as hyphenated slash commands:

/speckit-implement

Note the naming: agents use dots (/agent speckit.specify), skills use hyphens (/speckit-specify).

The /speckit.* dotted slash commands shown in the "Next Steps" output apply to VS Code Copilot Chat, which is why they didn't appear in the CLI — that's a doc/UX gap we should tighten up.
