Port remaining content from the voxpupuli.org OpenVox install page before the microsite is phased out #442

Description

@miharp

The Vox Pupuli microsite page Installing OpenVox is being phased out. Most of its content already exists on docs.openvoxproject.org (repo setup, package installs, the /etc/puppetlabs/ backup warning, the Puppet/OpenVox coexistence caveat), but three sections exist only on the microsite, and several docs pages link to it.

Content to port

  • Alternative Puppet uninstallation options: the puppet-enterprise-uninstaller path for PE migrations, removing distro-packaged Puppet (moving .deb-packaged modules to a Puppetfile, apt/yum autoremove), and the note that legacy puppet.com repos can be left in place. Suggested home: a migration section on the openvox pre-install page or a dedicated migration page.
  • Managing OpenVox with OpenVox: the apt::source / yum::install code samples for managing the repos, plus the Hiera data for driving the migration with theforeman/puppet-puppet and puppet-openvoxdb (puppet::client_package: openvox-agent, puppet::server_package: openvox-server).
  • Foreman integration: no special configuration is needed anymore; the old puppet-agent-oauth workaround (foreman::providers::oauth: false and the oauth puppet_gem package) should be removed. Suggested home: the ecosystem collection.

Links to retarget before the microsite goes dark

Docs pages currently linking to voxpupuli.org/openvox/install/ or /openvox/support/:

  • docs/_openvox_8x/install_linux.markdown (and the 9.x copy)

  • docs/_openvox_8x/openvox_platform.md (and the 9.x copy)

  • docs/_openvox_8x/index.md and docs/_openvox_9x/index.md (support page)

  • docs/_openvox-server_8x/index.markdown (support page)

  • docs/_openvox-server_8x/install_from_packages.markdown

  • docs/_ecosystem_8x/getting_started/index.md

  • docs/_ecosystem_8x/getting_started/orchestration.md

  • Retarget the install-page links at the ported content

  • Decide where the support-page links should point (does /openvox/support/ survive the phase-out, or does that content need a home too?)

Related gap

  • docs/_openbolt_5x/bolt_installing.md still documents installing puppet-bolt from Puppet's repositories. The microsite is currently the only place that documents apt install openbolt / yum install openbolt from the Vox Pupuli repositories; the openbolt install page should be updated to match.

Notes

  • The microsite's sponsorship credits (Overlook InfraTech, OSU Open Source Lab) are community-site content rather than docs material, but it's worth confirming they survive somewhere.
  • If the microsite URLs will redirect somewhere, that changes the urgency of the link retargeting.
