** Update **

In 2011, I remember I had my main first slayer master, Chaeldar, and she assigned me tasks like banshee and crawling hands, cave crawlers, rock slugs, various low level slayer monsters and regular monsters, because I started with a slayer level of (1). She offered slayer monsters more than non slayer monsters. I remember, ghosts and harpie swarms, and fire giants, pyrefiends, jellies, basiliks, turoths.

The idea is, you can pick and choose any slayer master and you would be assigned tasks based on your combat level, slayer level, and quest fulfilled requirements. Tasks that you can complete and had access to. And players had the option to block various tasks from being assigned. Although I don't remember how many total were block-able.

If I recall correctly, each Slayer Master like Chaledar had 1-3 exclusive tasks that only she can assign (she had strykeworms), and same with the other higher masters. I remember duradrel/ and the lady that replaces him after while guthix sleeps quest could assign mithril dragons. Sumona specifically was dust devils after completing "Smoking Kills" quest.

Additional context

  • Google AI mentions it too but I'll continue to search for sources. But this part of my core memory untainted by osrs or rs3 as I have 0 experience with them.

`The update you are looking for is the Slayer Reward System update, which was released on May 8, 2008 (with subsequent mechanical adjustments finalized throughout 2010 and 2011).

While it didn’t explicitly pull tasks straight off a lower master's unique table, it introduced the exact mechanical behavior you are describing: allowing low-combat players to use high-level masters, who would then dynamically down-scale their task list to match the player's lower level.`

`The Pre-2008 System: Originally, Slayer masters like Duradel or Chaeldar had strict hard-locks. If you managed to meet their Slayer requirement but were too low in combat, they would flat-out refuse to speak to you.

The "Dynamic Task Pool" Change: With the addition of the Slayer Point reward system, Jagex shifted the restrictions. If you had a low combat level but met the required Slayer level, a higher-level master would accept you but filter out the high-combat monsters. In their place, the master would systematically assign lower-level tasks normally handled by lower masters (like Cave Crawlers, Banshees, or Crawling Hands) so you could still complete an assignment safe for your combat level.`
