Getting Started with InputTranslator

System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 or later
  • RAM: 4 GB minimum
  • Disk: ~100 MB free space
  • Internet: Required for translation

Installation

  1. Visit inputtranslator.com and click Download
  2. Run the installer (InputTranslator-Setup.exe)
  3. If Windows SmartScreen shows a warning, click More infoRun anyway (the app is safe, we just haven't purchased a code signing certificate yet)
  4. Follow the installation wizard

First Use

  1. After installation, InputTranslator starts automatically and runs in the background (check the system tray icon)
  2. Open any application with a text input field (e.g., WhatsApp, Chrome, Discord)
  3. Type your message in your native language
  4. Press Alt + X — your text is instantly translated and replaced in the input field
  5. Send your message as usual

Customizing the Hotkey

  1. Open InputTranslator from the system tray
  2. On the Home screen, click Customize → next to the hotkey display
  3. Set your preferred key combination

Choosing a Target Language

  1. Open InputTranslator
  2. On the Home screen, use the Target Language dropdown to select your desired output language

Translation Scenes

InputTranslator offers context-aware translation modes:

Scene Best For Tone
General Everyday communication Natural, balanced
Business Professional emails, proposals Formal, precise
Customer Service Support tickets, client replies Professional, empathetic
X / Twitter Tweets, social posts Native, casual
Reddit Forum posts, comments Community-appropriate
TikTok Video captions, comments Trendy, local

Business, Customer Service, X/Twitter, Reddit, and TikTok scenes require the Pro plan.

Troubleshooting

Translation not working?

  1. Make sure InputTranslator is running (check system tray)
  2. Click on the input field to make sure it's focused
  3. Try the hotkey again
  4. If the issue persists, restart InputTranslator

Hotkey conflicts?

If Alt + X conflicts with another application, change the hotkey in Settings.
