Groot hangs/crashes when undo-ing

Describe the bug
When undoing changes to the tree, Groot now takes long and even completely hangs.

To Reproduce
Open a bigger tree, make some changes and press ctrl+Z to undo the changes.
We don't know how big the tree needs to be for this issue. It was working whiteout problems prior to 1.8

Expected behavior
Quickly undo last changes

• OS: Win10 / ubuntu 24
• Version: 1.8.1 (since 1.8.0)
